2. The Hand Of Midas - Tomb Raider

While in contemporary culture the idea of the "Midas Touch" refers to a person's ability to turn basically any scenario in their favour, typically for profit, you should also be aware the concept is rooted in Greek mythology, namely the myth of King Midas.

King Midas possessed the ability to turn anything he touched into gold, which ended up backfiring spectacularly when, in various versions, it prevented him from being able to touch his own daughter or even eat.

And so, in Tomb Raider's seventh level, "Palace Midas," you'll eventually enter a chamber with a broken statue, with the name "Midas" clearly visible next to the statue's broken-off hand.

The mere name Midas should be enough to make players cautious of every step they take in this room, especially near the hand, but those who dare leap into the statue's concrete palm will witness a low-key horrifying animation of Lara Croft being turned into a gold statue.

It's absolutely worth trying this out once purely for kicks, but let's face it - you didn't need any encouragement in that regard.
