4. Vincent Brooks - The Commitment-Phobic Scumbag (Catherine)
One of the more peculiar games to come down the pipe in recent years is puzzle adventure game Catherine, which revolves around one of the most interesting if bizarre premises in gaming history. Vincent Brooks is a young, aloof male who is being pressured to get married by his girlfriend, Katherine, yet he ends up cheating on her with a woman he meets at a bar, Catherine. His waking life and a series of nightmares begin to blend together and cloud his judgement, serving as a metaphor for the crushing pressure he feels to "seal the deal" and marry his girlfriend. In the end, Vincent ends up questioning his sanity once it appears that Katherine is not real, before he finds out she is a creature created to tempt men who intend to cheat, therefore "saving" their partners from lousy relationships, and holding the men captive in a tower. In short, though Katherine is far from perfect either (she fakes a pregnancy), Vincent is just an immature douche, something of a male stereotype in being averse to moving the relationship along and being controlled by his genitalia. Nevertheless, it's a game like no other, and worth checking out if only for its innate weirdness.
