Real-time strategy game Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty was developed and produced by Blizzard Entertainment back in 2010 for Windows and Macs all around the world. The sequel to the 1998 original title, Starcraft II's base game was followed up by the release of two expansion packs, Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void, in 2013 and 2015 and a DLC singelplayer mission pack, StarCraft II: Nova Covert Ops in November 2016.

The game was released to a Metacritic score of 93% and became the fastest selling real-time strategy game ever sold with three million sales in the first month alone.

Like CS:GO, the game was moved to a free to play model in November 2017 and has helped keep the game alive from the grassroot player base up. Season 27 of the game's competitive season drew in a peak player base of 64,600 users, however that had risen up to 134,000 in 2017 and then up to 188,000 in 2018.

Boasting a high skill ceiling and pulling in a hardcore group of passionate fans, Starcraft II has quietly become one of Blizzard's most player-driven successful titles.
