A good multiplayer game attracts players. A great one keeps them playing. From its cartoonish art-style and funky hats, to its memorable characters and satisfying gunplay — there’s simply too much to be said about Team Fortress 2.

A sequel to the original Team Fortress, a 1996 mod for Quake, TF2 was launched a year later, and is currently the 12th most played game on Steam Charts with over 70,000 active players per day.

Though it would be reasonable to assume a game this old would be overrun by only the most competitive and elite players, that assumption would be wrong. The TF2 community is just as whacky and engaging as ever, with nine different classes to choose from, team-based combat and additional content through Steam Workshop.

The inside jokes, creatively designed game modes, smart dialogue and intuitive movement mechanics all fit together perfectly in the mayhem that is this multiplayer game. Only the best games are able to attract both new and returning players with the same level of enthusiasm, and Team Fortress 2 is a most certainly a prime example.
