9. The Witch - Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead, and its sequel, came at the end of the first decade of the 2000s. It was a cooperative game wherein four survivors of the zombie apocalypse tried to escape said zombies. Within it there were numerous 'boss' monsters, including the hunter who would tackle a character and tear at them until an ally could pry him loose, the Tank which is basically zombie Hulk, and our entry on this list - The Witch.
Really almost any enemy from Left 4 Dead could be on this list if you've got a bad enough team, but the Witch can mess you up pretty quickly even with a good team if you're not careful. Generally the idea of the game, especially on harder difficulties, is to avoid the Witch and sneak past her - as she sits somewhere on the map sobbing loudly. Shooting her, getting too close to her, or shining your flashlight on her for too long will incite her into attacking with her gigantic claws.
On the hardest difficulty she'll kill you in a single hit - but even on lower difficulties if you don't get have good allies to pry her off you, you'll be dead in moments.
