Horror as a genre has a responsibility to push you past your comfort zone. With that being said, there are still plenty of taboos that even the darkest of projects attempt to avoid, and one such example is seeing children in danger.

Players/viewers are more than happy to see adults bite the bullet in spooky titles, but seeing a horrifying world through the eyes of a two-year-old kid is something else entirely. That's what makes Among The Sleep such a gripping and terrifying game.

You play as the young toddler David who receives what seems to be a sentient teddy bear on his birthday. What follows is a delve into terror as you and your talking friend Teddy explore the house, escape from evil monsters and attempt to make sense of what's happening.

It's not uncommon for first-person horror games to take a similar game structure to this, as exploration whilst avoiding enemies is relatively common. But, Among the Sleep goes in a fresh direction, as being so low to the ground (as toddlers are) makes the world itself feel terrifying.

Seeing the daunting world of dark nights, creepy figures and uncanny images reminds you of just how scary and unknown everything was to you when you were a child.
