10 Open-World Video Games You Must Play Before You Die

9. Watch Dogs 2

Open World Games
Ubisoft

Literally just forget the first Watch Dogs. Watch Dogs 2's depiction of San Francisco is absolutely beautiful, varied and full of things to do.

When you consider how bland and run of the mill the first game's Chicago was, it's pretty incredible to see how upbeat and lively the sequel is.

Nudists, cult members, hipsters and hackers all walk around the streets and music blares from street corners. It feels truly lived in, and the amount of detail in the world is truly unmatched.

Ubisoft went to extremely great lengths to recreate the world of San Francisco and the work truly paid off. Even just walking around the game map is a joy in itself, and the fact that Watch Dogs' core gameplay mechanics come into play.

A great aspect of Watch Dogs 2 is that there are plenty of hacking opportunities throughout the map, which makes it a much more involving world to play around in.

If only the first game hadn't put people off so much.

Jumping through portals, swinging through cities, destroying beings made of darkness and occasionally shooting a gun or two. I also write about games.
