10 Opening Bosses That Totally Ruined Video Games
7. Phantom - Devil May Cry
You thought you were really hard, didn't you? Devil May Cry was a hack and slash action-adventure video game, starring a protagonist called Dante who flies around like a DragonBall Z villain and smashes demons to a fine powder for a living. This was going to be Castlevania for kids who listened to too much Linkin Park and that was 1000% your s**t.
You thought you were really hard, didn't you? Younger brother wasn't allowed to play it because it had a mature rating, meaning you get the PlayStation to yourself and could sit back and drink all that violence and gore in without worrying that your mother would make you turn it off. You were going to go in there and cut down every single abomination that so much looked at you funny. Which would be all of them, you'd assumed.
But you thought you were really hard, didn't you? So you stuck the difficulty up because you're a big boy now and this was a big boy game so you wanted to play it on the big boy settings. A big boy plan, to be sure, but DMC's learning curve is more remorseless and unforgiving than all the girls in your school combined, and you got about as far with Phantom as you did with them.
Just stick it in Easy-Automatic Mode and go back to button mashing, there's a big boy.
