10 Optional Bosses Harder Than The Final Boss
7. Gaxkang The Unbound - Dragon Age: Origins
Those who have played Dragon Age: Origins tend to agree that as difficult as the final fight with the Archdemon is, he is by no means the strongest boss in the game. This title is either attributed to the High Dragon in Haven or a more unassuming figure called Gaxkang the Unbound.
Gaxkang is a powerful demon who hides among mortals under the guise of an old man. He is an entirely optional boss, so much so that the player needs to look all over the world before they can even find him cooped up in his tiny hovel in Denerim.
There are two main reasons why Gaxkang is significantly more troublesome than the Archdemon.
The first one is the fact that Gaxkang wields an impressive roster of spells. He can disrupt your allies, disable their own magical abilities, and, most annoyingly, heal an insane amount of health.
The second issue is the environment. Whereas the final battle with the Archdemon takes place in a huge arena that you can fill up with your allies, Gaxkang fights your Warden inside a tiny, cramped room, making it difficult to use the terrain to your advantage.
Who knew single-studio apartments made for such excellent combat environments?
