7. Cloud Gaming Eventually Replaces Physical Copies
Again, perhaps this prediction isn't even all that outlandish, considering several platforms are integrating their systems with cloud gaming facilities. Except, I don't expect it to stop there. Eventually, discs will be a thing of the past and all games will be purchased (quite dangerously I might add) at the simple touch of a button. And with the internet getting faster seemingly by the month, these games will likely take seconds to arrive with us once we've bought them. A world without physical copies might sound like an overtly sterile place but think about it; this negates the need for packaging, for shipping, for storage, effectively reducing the carbon footprint of the entire gaming industry by...well, by alot. Which is, y'know, nice.
