10 Outrageous Hidden Moments In Video Games
9. The End Dies Of Old Age - Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
One could easily make an entire list comprised entirely of mind-melting moments from Hideo Kojima games, but perhaps the most brilliantly, ingeniously unhinged moment in any Kojima game occurs during Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater's greatest boss battle.
Anyone who's played the game will remember the white-knuckle encounter with elderly sniper The End.
Despite his apparent frailty, The End is an expert marksman and tracker, capable of easily picking off unsuspecting players and forcing them to start the damn battle all over again.
It can take hours for first-time players to find a way through this fight, or you can just go the cheap route by winding your console's system clock forward eight days after saving mid-battle, which will cause The End to die of old age.
When you reload the game, you'll witness a cutscene where The End's rigid corpse falls over with a gentle nudge. Congratulations, you spent so long figuring out how to beat him that nature did the job instead.
To rub salt in the wound, during Snake's codec conversation with Zero he'll even express disappointment in himself for not giving The End the battle he wanted, not-so-subtly throwing shade at the player for their own cowardice.
