8. Enter The Gungeon
If you want another fast-paced, top-down shooter, then the challenging roguelike Enter the Gungeon is a game for you. Released on PC in 2016, and ported to the Switch in 2017, Enter the Gungeon, with its mixture of elements from both dungeon crawlers and arcade shooters, has become a firm favourite for many Switch owners.
Featuring hundreds of unique weapons, a sense of humour, an adorable yet not-too-adorable appearance, and an excellent soundtrack, it's no wonder that Enter the Gungeon is a gem of an indie game.
After choosing one of the gun-toting characters to play as, each with weapons and items that are unique to them, you work your way through the procedurally generated rooms and levels of the Gungeon until you reach the final boss - or until you die, and return to the very beginning.
Don't be misled by its cute appearance - this game is difficult. As you try to find the weapon to kill the past, you will need to hone your skills and practise your dodge rolls.
With a compelling backstory, and even lore created for each of the weapons and items you can find, Enter the Gungeon deserves the praise it receives from those in the know.
