Your Dragonborn in Skyrim has access to plenty of world-bending abilities.

Ancient dragon shouts, arcane magic, and nefarious deadric artifacts all allow you to influence the balance of Tamriel's powers and conquer any battlefield with ease.

And yet, none of them possess the power to bend the balance of the game itself. That terrific ability belongs to only one of Dragonborn's possessions—the horse.

It is a well-known fact among Skyrim players that horses are one of the most broken and useful things in the game. Thanks to their awkward movement mechanics, the creatures can scale any terrain in the game, including vertical cliffsides, steep walls, and many other out-of-reach areas.

With just one horse, whether found, bought, or stolen, you can break the limits of the game and skip past inaccessible areas, finishing quests out of order, and speedrunning the game faster than any proper weapon or spell would allow you to.

If you're ever tired of doing the same boring main storyline over and over again, just use a horse to climb to the peak of High Hrothgar to get all the benefits of doing story quests without ever actually touching any of them.

Life's too short to spend it all horsing around!
