Okay, forgoing his appearance, lines of dialogue or set-piece events, describe the Master Chief. Like, his personality - you can't do it can you? He's just sort of this nondescript space-merc badass that ended up getting championed alongside the games, rather than off the back of anything he actually stands for or represents. Coming just after the action hero-filled 90's; both him and his plain suit of armour managed to walk the line between blank slate and one-liner spewing hero, which definitely made him accessible, but also completely unforgettable if you scratch away at that surface layer. Even dialogue-wise, hardly anything he says is ever memorable, and the one quote that sticks out is indicative of the most hated part of the first trilogy - "Sir, finishing this fight". That line may have sat well with a handful of people, but it was the single most groaned-about scene of the whole decade. If you want more confirmation that the Chief's performance is almost completely forgettable, try and name his voice actor off the top of your head. Exactly.
