10 Most Overrated Video Game Characters Ever

6. Lara Croft

No, not the older, curvier balloon-chested model (although there are plenty problems with her too upon reflection) - instead it's the supposedly refined and thoroughly well-adjusted 2013 version that apparently thanks to a few choice encounters with some cliff-faces and a handful of rapists, is now heralded as starring in one of the most important titles of the new age. Now don't get us wrong, reducing Lara's over-pixellated love-pillows along with how many fantasy masculine tropes she'd taken on over the years is definitely a good thing. But as in-depth analyses on the story and character of the 'new' Lara has covered, you could easily replace her with anyone else in this survivalist tale and get the same result. There's just not enough personal development or in-depth narrative delivered to really make you care for 'Lara Croft' as an individual, as oppose to 'this person stranded on an island fighting for their life'. It seems in the rush to embrace this newer direction the series was attempting to go in, there's actually precious little to substantiate the themes and points we'd love this game to represent.
