10 Most Overrated Video Game Characters Ever

5. Miranda Lawson

Mass Effect will forever be remembered as one of the greatest sci-fi works of all time (yes, even with that total hack of an ending), as one of the things that elevates it above so many other RPGs and titles being that you could choose your own love interest throughout. Some may have gone for the mysterious and rebel-tinged rocker Jack, the shy and thoughtful Tali or the always-loyal and down-to-earth fan-favourite Liara (or, y'know, the razor-faced Garrus if he's more your thing) - but one character who was built from the ground-up to be as sexy as hell without so much thought being put into her personality, was Miranda. Being modelled on the gorgeous Yvonne Strahovsky, naturally Miranda was a knockout from top to bottom - but did she have anything else to offer besides physicality? Let's face it, those of us after Miranda were doing so for purely physical reasons - which might have entirely been the point given what backstory she did actually have. All the same her portrayal throughout felt a bit too much like teenage-baiting eye-candy than anything else - something Bioware essentially confirmed by relegating her to a perfunctory cameo appearance in part three, damning any who spent enough time with her to develop something meaningful.
