10 Perfect Video Games That NEVER Need To Be Remade

2. Streets Of Rage 2

Before we had all this super-fast internet nonsense, back in a time when everyone had suspicious haircuts, awesome cheesy music was accepted as normal and crazy good things like Pokemon cards and pogs ruled the world, getting a mate round your house and playing through Streets of Rage 2 was the best thing ever. While the first in this series for the Sega Megadrive/Genesis was without a doubt a fun ride, the sequel perfected the side-scrolling beat-em-up gameplay to a tee, developing one of the finest co-operative gameplay experiences in history. Together with a friend (or by yourself if you're feeling adventurous) you moved from left to right beating the absolute snot out of everything from red-haired dagger-wielding idiots (so annoying) to giant boxers and even weird alien creatures. Out of the three games released for the Megadrive when Streets' popularity was at a high, this was most definitely the best. Attempts to remake the game in a spiritual fashion have been prevalent throughout history; games such as Fighting Force 1 and 2 are very Streets of Rage-esque and just a couple of years back it was rumoured that a modern take on the game had been cancelled. Not long ago, a bunch of fans who dedicated themselves to remaking a game in the spirit of the original had their fully-finished project immediately pulled by Sega after it was released. Perhaps that was for the best; Streets of Rage 2 remains to this day a great time to have with friends, and you don't have to sit in opposite houses to do it.
