10 Perfect Video Games With One Glaring Flaw
6. Batman: Arkham Knight - The Batmobile
If Arkham Asylum represented the series' potential to be the ultimate Batman video game and Arkham City the realisation of that potential, what does that make the final part in Rocksteady's trilogy?
In two words: a misstep. One that's arguably through no fault of its own. After all, how else was it supposed to meet the expectations of what a sequel is meant to deliver? Expanding Batman's concrete playground and sprinkling in more members of his rogue's gallery, while welcome, would only offer more of the same.
No, the answer was the Batmobile, a feature that Rocksteady, up until Knight's release, had resisted the inclusion of for, in retrospect, good reason. On one hand, the Caped Crusader's signature mode of transport felt great to play around with, but on the other, Rocksteady's efforts to accommodate its inclusion as an integral feature rather than a gimmick was overzealous, to say the least.
Unlike the tireless enjoyment gained from beating thugs silly with Batman's fists, vehicular combat grew old, fast, and the handling of Batman's final showdown with the titular Arkham Knight in particular still leaves a tread mark-shaped stain of disappointment on the streets of Gotham.
