10 Pointless Super Mario Power Up Clones

8. Chain Chomp + Piranha Plant

In Mario Kart: Double Dash, drivers have a special item only they can use. The princesses can obtain a Heart shield, the Toads can obtain a Golden Mushroom, the Kongs can obtain a Giant Banana, etc.

Baby Mario and Baby Luigi can use an exclusive item called the Chain Chomp. When you activate it, a gargantuan Chain Chomp will pull the racers forward, which increases their speed, squashes obstacles, and smashes into other drivers.

But this isn't the only time an enemy was turned into a Mario Kart Power Up. Mario Kart 8 was the first game in the racing series where drivers could use a Piranha Plant to help them out.

This may sound cool at first, but some players were disappointed to learn that the overgrown flower's skill-set is interchangeable from Chain Chomp in Double Dash.

When you activate the Piranha Plant, it lunges forward, giving the racer a boost. The blooming baddie destroys any nearby obstacles and force passing drivers to crash.

It will also pick up any coins in its vicinity. The only real difference between the two items is the Piranha Plant lunges at items and obstacles while Chain Chomp charges straight ahead.
