10 Pointless Video Game Mechanics Nobody Used

Most people accidentally use photo mode simply by clicking on the button whilst trying to play the game. Sure, some people use the feature, and it is stretching the definition of pointless, but the fact remains that people don't play games to take pictures. No one wants to capture the admittedly beautiful moment of snapping an ogres tusk off and impaling in its face.

Taking pictures of a game actively takes the player out of the game. Its counterproductive to the idea of immersion. You can't preach about wanting gamers to be engrossed and immersed in a world, whilst simultaneously pushing for them to update their gaming Instagram.

And devoting an entire button on the controller to such a feature is as useless as possible. Risking the chance of players creating a begrudging relationship with your feature by constantly accidentally pressing it is once again counterproductive.
