10 Pokémon Games You've (Probably) Never Played

6. Learn With Pokémon: Typing Adventure

Pokemon Game
Game Freak

Released in Japan as Battle & Get! Pokemon Typing DS, this educational title was given to Japanese gamers in April 2011, September 2012 for the European crowd and January 2013 in Australia. The game sees you playing as a member of the Elite Typist’s Club as you travel the world saving Pokémon through typing and spelling with the help of Professor Quentin Werty (absolute genius).

Developed by Genius Sonority (who had previously worked on Pokémon Colosseum and Dragon Quest Swords), the game was shipped with a Bluetooth keyboard to enable it to be played. While educational games have historically been a tough sell, the late great former Nintendo president Satoru Iwata presented the game to investors saying that it would be challenging even for adults who were adept touch-typists.

Some interesting factoids about the game include: Japan got second wave versions that came with a black keyboard as opposed to the original white design, the game was localised into English, Spanish, German, French, and Italian (with German and French having a QWERTZ and AZERTY keyboard layout respectively) and it was the only Pokémon game in English that never had a North American release.

A lover of video games, Star Wars, and cereal. Thinks Starfox Adventures was really good.
