1. Zygarde’s Forms Are Inspired By Loki’s Children
A Legendary Pokemon who only appears to keep the other Kalos trio in check, Zygarde is said to have been inspired by the three children of Loki and Angrboða: Hróðvitnir, Jörmungandr, and Hel. Because of its three Formes, with each representing a different child, Zygarde draws obvious parallels to each of the Norse shapeshifter’s offspring.
Its 10% Forme could easily be based on Hróðvitnir, Loki’s giant wolf-son, who made a snack out of Tyr’s right hand. The monster is seen rocking a green leash, much like Gleipnir, the ropes that bind Hróðvitnir. Zygarde’s 50% Forme takes on a snake-like appearance, not unlike Loki’s second child, Jörmungandr.
In its final, most powerful Forme, Zygarde transforms into a humanoid robot. While the bipedal bot differs greatly in appearance from its previous Formes, it is reminiscent of Loki’s daughter, Hel, who appropriately guards the realm of the dead (aka Helheim).
