10 Popular Pokémon That Struggle Battling Online
8. Lycanroc
At the moment, it feels as though Game Freak and Nintendo are pushing Lycanroc to become the No.1 'Mon in the same way that Vince McMahon is trying to make Roman Reigns the top guy in WWE - by putting him everywhere!
Lycanroc has two forms, Midday and Midnight, and a third form, Dusk, is being introduced to trainers with the release of Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon in mid November. Ash is currently running the Dusk form on his team in the anime series, and it's being showcased as one of his strongest Pokémon.
It's unknown how the new form will do online, but the two current Lycanrocs are easily outclassed by better Pokémon.
Whilst Lycanroc is unique for being a fast Rock-type, both forms have terrible Defence stats allowing them to be dispatched by any other speedy or bulky Pokémon with access to a super-effective move.
Furthermore, the Midnight Form can't learn Accelerock, a priority Rock-move that is absolutely necessary for late-game sweeping. Its Speed stat is several points lower than its Midday counterpart as well, making Midnight Lycanroc completely redundant, and the Midday version only viable towards the end of the match.
