7. Bionic Commando - Nazi References

The game that was doing hookshot tricks way before Link arrived in Hyrule, this NES platforming shooter hybrid had a whole host of changes made to it.

Right off the bat, the original Japanese title of Top Secret: The Resurrection of Hitler was altered and became what we know the game as today. Any references to Nazism in either imagery or text were removed in the English localised versions, with the enemy force insignia being changed from a Swastika with a thunderbolt behind it in the Japanese iteration to an eagle crest in the English games.

The enemy army name was also changed from the Nazis to the "Badds" (although evidence can be found in the American manual referring to them as the "Nazz"), an antagonist named Weizmann was changed to Killt and the most severe change was altering the name of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler to become "Master-D".

Strangely, the scene where Hitler/Master-D's head explodes in a particularly gory fashion remains intact in all copies of the game.

As well as other very slight graphic changes, the game also had its difficulty retouched to make it slightly easier in some areas.
