3. Mafia 3 - Donovan Is Getting Revenge For JFK

Though Mafia 3 is very much the story of Lincoln Clay's budding criminal empire in New Bordeaux, it's all framed via side character Donovan. Clay's story is contextualised as a courtroom testimony from the former CIA operative, but the true nature of these flashforwards isn't revealed until the post-credits sequence.

Here, Donovan finally explains why he turned against his own government to help a criminal exact his highly personal revenge: funnily enough, it turns out that the Vietnam vet is similarly on his own quest for revenge. In a wild twist, Donovan's revealed to actually have been hunting conspirators involved in the JFK assassination, which included Lincoln's revenge target, Sal Marcano.

At this point, Donovan pulls a gun on the Senator interrogating him, accusing him of also being part of this conspiracy to kill the President. In front of the other officials and television cameras, he shoots the senator dead, scratching off another name on his list.

Honestly, Donovan deserves his own game.
