That you can't do this just makes no sense. You're either picked to start or you're out the squad. It's daft. While you could go all out and allow yourself to watch the game before you (possibly) come on, either from the TV angle, or from your spot on the bench. You could even go and warm up as the camera follows you and the game goes on in the background. Sure, that's probably an unnecessary addition to the game, but there's probably a few of you thinking what an awesome idea that would be.

But at it's simplest form, there's no good reason why you can't be on the bench in FIFA. If you're not suspended, injured or just not picked right now, the game takes you to a sim screen, where it sims the game minute by minute. The simplest solution is to take you to said sim screen, and the game either sims the 90 minutes and you cut a lonely figure collecting splinters, or it reaches the point you're about to be brought on. Loading screen, view of the stadium, you coming on as a sub, and then game time!

Genuinely this is so straightforward that there is no logical explanation as to why it's missing from the game.
