10 Potential FIFA 18 Player Career Mode Improvements

2. Selecting Skills At The Start Of The Game

When you start the game, your overall rating is pretty much hovering around 65-67 (or 70-72 if you've unlocked the +5 boost) and your player's attributes are based purely on their position, height and weight. That's fine in theory, as creates a balanced footballer suited to his role. Why stop there though? Is there anything wrong with creating a player with Usain Bolt's pace and Carlton Palmer's first touch?

That's not to say you create Cristiano Ronaldo's slightly less egotistical younger brother to open the game. By all means, set the top level at 67 overall if you must, but give us a chance to at least toy with what the player is actually good at. It takes forever to become any good at free kicks on career mode. Can we not give that a boost and maybe sacrifice tackling or heading to make up for it?

While your player will always be good for the position he's in, it would be fun to have more creativity. Whether you want a full-back who hits the ball like Roberto Carlos from 35 yards, or a centre-half who is as good a dribbler as Rio Ferdinand was in his younger days, it should be somewhat up to the user. Variety is the spice of life, and some variety in the creation centre beyond hair colour and boots would be a welcome addition.
