10 Potential Superhero Video Games (And Who Should Make Them)

You know, if you really think about it, Overwatch is very similar to the X-Men. Of course, Blizzard's own IP boasts a wonderfully unique universe and one that we've seen that loads of people are eager to devour in full, but there are certain thematic similarities to note. For starters, it features two opposing factions linked together by a broken friendship none-too-similar to the one shared between The Professor and Magneto, and the protagonists themselves - although perhaps more derivative of Watchmen here - are vilified by the general public. Then there are the usual superhero power-sets, which y'know, kind of go without saying.

Blizzard, being Blizzard, have all the tools to make a success out of anything they want to, but given the massive success of Overwatch I think it's only fair that they be assigned the role of the gaming harbingers of the X-Men. They know how to create an awesome looking art-style, and they know how to mould an engaging narrative with only a limited set of tools at their disposal. What they would do with the license is anyone's guess, but again, X-Men has the potential to thrive as both a competitive-style FPS (seriously, think about it) and as a single-player or indeed cooperative experience.

Overwatch is probably the easiest example to think of, but there's also a more isometric route that the developers could take. Diablo, of course, is another ridiculous success of their making, and the X-Men - having been led by Raven Software a little over ten years ago - have had their own adventures in the vein of that series, with X-Men Legends I and II having garnered a cult following almost immediately after their release.

Let's face it though, Blizzard could do anything and we'd probably be all over it. Given the option for a more X-treme path, and there's no doubt we'd be on to something special.
