4. Custom Apartment Lots - The Sims 2
Although most Sims players are completely oblivious to it, Sims 2's Apartment Life expansion pack allows you to build your own custom apartment lots to provide your Sims with affordable housing, complete with whatever amenities you want to place on them.
The feature is an incredibly useful tool for both town builders and life simulation fans, as it gives you total control over the looks and price of the new apartments, letting you fit their style into your community and providing a cheap alternative to the pricier pre-built apartment lots that come with the expansion pack.
The reason why this amazing mechanic flies under so many people's radars is because it requires you to use the console command to register a lot as an apartment complex.
In order to do so, you first need to press Ctrl + Shift + C and then type "changeLotZoning apartmentbase." Once the lot is equipped with the right doors and objects, your Sims will be able to move in and enjoy a new life together in a fully customized lot of your own design.
