10 Powerful Video Game Intros That Gave You Chills
5. God Of War (2018)
God of War, as a series, has many great introductions I could have picked from. But whilst many focus on the loud and bombastic nature of Kratos, 2018's take on the franchise struck more a chord for many.
Gone was the smashing up of colossal statues, mythical beasts and entire areas on Kratos' quest to take on whatever annoyed him this time. Instead, we see a new man changed.
A retired god, a man trying to adjust to a newer, quieter life. But it's the point that we start the game off that serves us the chills.
His wife recently deceased, Kratos is searching for one last tree for her funeral pyre. That we are involved in that is sombre enough, as we take chosen tree back to the house.
The game also introduces us to Kratos' son, Atreus, too but it isn't a joyous affair. But it doesn't end there.
Brief tutorial aside, peace is broken by the arrival of The Stranger. The battle between Kratos and the unannounced guest is a brutal affair, setting the stage for this adventure through Norse mythology.
