Diablo is a point-and-click RPG that centres around a warrior who must wage war against the armies of Hell. For this reason, the last thing Blizzard thought Diablo players would obsess over... were the cows.

Not only was the fanbase inexplicably fascinated by the grass-munching critters, there was an ongoing theory you could unlock a top-secret Cow Level if a specific bovine was clicked on a number of times. So, rather than fighting off the forces of darkness, some Diablo owners spent hours clicking on farm animals.

This rumour quickly became an in-joke in pop-culture, and has been mentioned in other titles, including StarCraft, Warcraft, and Goat Simulator.

Luckily, anyone who fell for this lie shouldn't feel too bad. While working on the sequel, Blizzard decided to make The Cow Level a part of the Diablo canon. By performing certain conditions, you can be teleport to a field filled with demonic cattle, ruled with an iron hoof by the dreaded Cow King. 

Even though it seems pretty pointless to devise video game rumours like this, Diablo's Cow Level proves some good can come from it.
