10 Problems With Destiny 2 Nobody Wants To Admit

1. It Really Is Just Another Expansion Pack

Destiny 2
Bungie

I would never use the word 'lazy' in relation to game developers. 99% of teams under the sun are unbelievably hard-working, and you need only look to the development of the original Destiny to get a feel for how much Bungie's coders slaved away to please their masters.

That said... Destiny 2 immediately feels just like Destiny 1.

From the reuse of menus and sound effects to the character creator being exactly the same, if you actually start parsing out what is brand new for the sequel, it is an INCREDIBLY thin list.

And that's a shame, because the Destiny fanbase continues to be one of the most blindly loyal, defensive and passionate of all in gaming. These are the guys that coughed up real cash to pay for dance emotes in 2016, and I can't help but think Activision are playing a game of "How little can we get away with?" here.

Think about it:

You've got the base game shipping for full price, despite it being incredibly thin on the ground. You then have another £25 expansion pass with content that I guarantee will feel like it should have on-disc - all the while propped up by a microtransaction model ranging from £5 to £50.

Put the games side by side and you'd have to squint at the corner power-up icons to tell them apart. It's damn-sure enjoyable - as it always was - but think about what you're paying for: There really isn't that much here.
