The popularity of the Pokemon games has resurged in full force since Let's Go! Eevee and Pikachu dropped in November. The game functions as a sort-of-remake for Pokemon Yellow, and has been widely praised for its innovative breath of fresh air into the franchise, alongside the AR mobile phenomenon that is Pokemon Go.

Keeping up the positive momentum, Game Freak have announced they'll be releasing a whole new Pokemon game in 2019, describing it as another entry into the 'core' franchise.

That means new lands, new pokemon and some new adventures, but whether it will have quite the same impact as the nostalgia-driven Go series remains to be seen.

Whilst we don't really know anything other than the word 'core' and that it'll debut on the Switch, it's both exciting and unnerving for the company to step out into unknown territory once more. But let's be fair - whether it's good or not, it's Pokemon. It'll still earn enough money to outweigh a Snorlax army in the first few weeks alone.
