10 Promising Video Game Sequels That Completely Killed Their Franchises

10. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2

The original Force Unleashed was a milestone for Star Wars video games, giving us an awesome story, great gameplay, high production values and plenty of potential for future titles. The Force Unleashed 2 simply didn't deliver on any of this.

One thing that held The Force Unleashed 2 back from the start was continuing the story of the first game. Bringing back Starkiller as a clone felt cheap, especially considering how important his death was to the Star Wars universe. It didn't help that this new Starkiller was whiny and obsessed with Juno, resulting in a less believable love story than even Anakin and Padme.

Considering how great the first title's story was, the lack of anything truly interesting in this game was one of its biggest problems. Every other aspect of The Force Unleashed 2 also fell short of fan expectations, with gameplay failing to offer anything new, and the actual experience itself only lasting between two and four hours.

The Force Unleashed 2 delivered a poor story, boring gameplay and lasted about as long as a Starkiller clone - which still feels like a massive waste of potential, because a Force Unleashed 3 would be welcomed with open arms.

Jumping through portals, swinging through cities, destroying beings made of darkness and occasionally shooting a gun or two. I also write about games.
