10 Promising Video Game Sequels That Completely Killed Their Franchises

4. Army Of Two: The Devil's Cartel

Army Of Two Devil's Cartel

Army of Two may never have been the massive blockbuster franchise that EA hoped it would be, but at the very least it had plenty of personality and was great fun to play. The Devil's Cartel was not.

The biggest draw to the Army of Two series is the focus on cooperative play and mechanics. Confusingly, The Devil's Cartel decided to remove this, essentially making it another generic two player shooter with nothing going for it. The humour and bravado of the previous games was replaced with two completely forgettable characters that left no impact whatsoever.

Upon release, The Devil's Cartel suffered from poor sales and poor critical reception, cementing Army of Two as a dead franchise. Well done, The Devil's Cartel.

At least the mask customisation was still awesome?
