They may not be universally adored, but God of War has a lot of seriously cool QTEs.

Aside from looking downright awesome and making you feel like a badass, which the following example absolutely does, QTEs in God of War are a handy tool to make sure you’re present in the action and not just smashing out old reliable combos over and over. Not that you weren’t absolutely paying attention during the climactic finale of God of War 3 that gives you the chance to stick it to Zeus after a very long journey. In the ultimate showdown of Daddy issues, you’ll deliver blows and execute QTEs to unleash your most powerful attacks.

But you wanna hear about the part where Kratos punches the everloving crap out of Zeus’s mug.

After a lengthy quicktime event struggle towards the pointy end of the battle that sees the two powerhouses vy for the upper hand, you’ll get the chance to skewer Zeus into the heart of Gaia. Since that enormous encounter would make it too easy, you will still have to take out Zeus’ spirit but, don’t worry, you’ve got this. In your final attack you’ll discard your staple blades and get the opportunity to punch Zeus in the face via the means of a quicktime event.

You can actually punch him as many times as you want so, go on, get it all out.
