10 Rare Video Game Console Variants You Might Actually Own

2. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Edition PS4

Let's be honest, this list could easily have consisted of ten PS4s, such is the ferocity with which special editions of the console have been released since its 2013 launch.

The 2015 Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain edition, however, is without doubt the pick of the bunch.

Inspired by Snake's bionic arm, this edition of the console sports a gorgeous blood/wine red top half, in stark contrast to the black lower section. Complete with a gun metal grey Dualshock 4 controller featuring the Diamond Dogs logo (Snake's private military outfit), the whole package is truly stunning to behold.

Bundled with a copy of the game and a 500gb hard drive, Metal Gear fans had everything they needed for countless hours of espionage right out of the box.

Whilst obviously limited in availability, there are still plenty of these collectors' editions available online to be snapped up at a variety of price points dependent on condition.

Collectors happy to settle for a used system missing its original packaging can pay reasonable prices in and around the £150-£200 mark.

However, as is to be expected, complete, mint in box versions of this prestigious system will easily set you back between £400 and £600 - a Solid investment.
