Here's one that should surprise nobody. Zelda: Breath of Wild released back in 2017 for both the WiiU and Nintendo Switch to rave reviews and immediate success, with many touting it as the number one reason to own a Switch.

The Master Edition of the title retailed for roughly $130, coming with some sweet bonuses such as a soundtrack and a faithfully recreated Master Sword statue. If you fancied getting a hold of a mint copy of the game today though, that could set you back anywhere from $900 to an insane $1,500.

Zelda fans are a rabid lot, chomping at the bit for every possible shred of collector's edition content for any Zelda title in existence.

When you couple this with the fact that then-President of Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aimé stated that the Master Edition would be "extremely limited in quantity", it's no wonder both Amazon and GameStop ran out of stock the same night it came out.

Let this be a lesson to all Zelda fans worldwide; Zelda is one of the most popular game franchises currently in existence, so if you really want those special, super-duper collectors editions you better be ready to cop them day one!
