10 Rarest PS1 Games Ever

4. Rakugaki Showtime

New: $300 | Used: $130 It's likely that you've never heard of this game before, which would be down to the fact that it was never released outside of Japan. But as obscure Japanese games go, this crayon-coloured arena fighting game probably could've been a success had it been localised for English. You choose from one of several sweetly drawn paper-cut-out characters, then try to take out your opponents using a colourful array of kooky moves. The gameplay is fast and absurd, and the game feels like a precursor to the Dreamcast's legendary Power Stone. It makes you wonder whatever happened to the 3D arena fighting genre (answer: wrestling games). Not much is known about why Rakugaki had such a short store run, but there was apparently some nasty copyright dispute that meant it was pulled from shelves prematurely. Of course, if that hadn't happened, then it's unlikely we'd ever have heard of it, so in a weird way getting pulled from shelves meant it got some great publicity, right?
