10 Rarest RPG Weapons Ever
3. Excalibur II - Final Fantasy IX
There are plenty of different ways a weapon might be especially rare. Maybe it’s the drop rate, maybe it’s been since patched out of the game, or maybe the ways of obtaining it are just so ludicrous that nobody would be able to pull it off without a guide.
That applies to our last entry, Eltonbrand, and it absolutely applies to Excalibur II from Final Fantasy IX as well.
Now, I haven’t played Final Fantasy IX myself, but I can only assume Excalibur II is a better version of what is already considered the greatest weapon of all time in many lore variations so it seems like you’re going to want to get your hands on it. Of course, being that I’ve plopped it on this list of rarest RPG weapons ever you’ve probably already worked out it’s not going to be that easy. In fact, it’s insanely difficult. What you need to do is beat the normally 50 hour game in under 12 hours.
That’s already a pretty big ask, but the time limit also includes the lengthy and extensive cutscenes and that’s just rude.
And if you just miss out that’s a re-do that’s going to cost you another ten hours at least. Brutal.
