Tetris is everywhere; it's on your PC, it's on your phone, it sits at the end of the bed while you sleep, wondering whether it can snuggle up to you in a way that slots perfectly around your warm, curled-up body. Yet in an awesome twist of irony, one of the rarest known games for the Sega Mega Drive is one of the most ubiquitous and widely-played in the world. There are thought to only be 10 copies of the Japanese Mega Drive version of Tetris in circulation. It never received a commercial release because Nintendo nabbed the exclusivity rights before anyone else got carried away. On account of its rarity, this version of Tetris is thought to be worth around $20,000. If you are willing to spend that amount of money on it, then a) you're insane and b) get your hands on a Japanese Mega Drive, otherwise you won't be able to play it. With that said, if you buy something this valuable, you should probably just lock it away in a vault. Have you owned any of these precious Mega Drive gems in the past? Did you manage to cash in on them, or are you banging your head against the desk for selling that Ecco box set at a car boot sale for a tenner? Share your stories in the comments section!
