From Funcom, the same people who brought us rare gem Nightmare Circus, comes this festive-themed platformer. Any game revolving around an annual holiday - apart from Independence Day - immediately evokes cynicism among more experienced gamers; it tingles our bullshit sensors and makes us suspect that it'll be a shameless attempt to cash in on the season of wanton spending. But Daze Before Christmas is actually a decent game, with pretty visuals, eclectic levels, and a solid arsenal of magical powers for Santa. One of the more intriguing ones was Santa turning into a 'devil' version of himself after drinking a cup of coffee - making him invincible but unable to attack in any way other than by swinging his sack. For reasons that weren't entirely clear, Daze Before Christmas was only released in Australia (maybe the publishers mistakenly assumed that Australians have never seen snow in their lives and that a wintry game would be something of a novelty for them?). Even down under, the game had a limited print run and these days an original, non-replica copy fetches up to $200.
