With the original Red Dead Redemption being one of the most beloved games of modern times, the hype for a potential sequel was off the charts.

As such, the amount of rumours and speculation surrounding the project was insane, creating the perfect environment for leakers to strike.

Way before we knew anything substantial about the game, a Reddit leaker claimed to have a whole bunch of inside information, which they shared in a now-deleted post.

This information touched on specific story and character details - like the name of the protagonist being Arthur, and the John Marston ending - as well as certain gameplay elements, like the minigame where John helps a horse give birth.

Unlike the game's infamous map leak in 2016, this particular leaker didn't have any strong evidence to back up their claims, which is possibly why they were met with widespread disbelief - one commenter even called the information "100% bulls**t".

As it turns out though, almost everything they said was true, meaning that Red Dead Redemption 2's story was spoiled years before we all got to play it. Wild.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
