10 Really Stupid Decisions In Horror Video Games
3. P*ssing Off The Fishermen - Man Of Medan
Perhaps the best part of horror as a genre is that nobody in it knows they're a part of it, so what are seemingly benign choices to in-game characters can appear as ragingly stupid to anyone on the outside. However, whilst that's true of most situations - like jumping into the ocean all care-free before realising sharks are in the water, or not locking your door at camp because you expect your pals to come in instead of an axe-wielding psychopath - Man of Medan's Conrad is just an ass from the outset.
In particular, his choice to enrage a group of passing, aggressive fishermen for literally no reason whatsoever stands out as brain-scramblingly stupid. Standing on his boat, he chucks dollar bills into the ocean at them in a show of both wealth and obnoxiousness, ignoring whether you tell him to be quiet or not for the encounter.
What exactly is he trying to achieve here? No idea. All he's doing is pointing out to a group of very pirate-y looking individuals that he has money coming out the wazoo, whilst they're in the middle of the ocean away from any conceivable help. Good thinking Conrad, you idiot.
