10 Reasons 2025 Is Make Or Break For Triple-A Games

3. Nintendo Switch 2 NEEDS To Succeed

Nintendo will finally launch the Switch 2 later in the year, and while it's certainly hotly anticipated by die-hard Nintendo fans and tech enthusiasts, it remains to be seen whether it'll fully connect with the wider mainstream.

While on paper it seems to be doing all the right things - namely just being called Nintendo Switch 2 - there's still no guarantee that the casuals who propelled the first Switch to record-breaking sales success will return for its successor.

A lot is naturally riding on the Switch 2 being a mega-hit, especially as the console will reportedly be getting significantly stronger third-party support than its predecessor did.

Recent rumours indicate that games as technically advanced as Assassin's Creed Shadows will be releasing on Switch 2, and so it will offer yet another avenue for players to experience the latest AAA releases.

While it seems highly unlikely that Nintendo will whiff the Switch 2 launch at this point in time, it's unclear just how well the Switch 2 will sell with less-hardcore players.
