To be entirely fair to EA Maxis, it seems like they really tried at some point. The emotion system seems like it would be a great addition to the special potion that makes up The Sims franchise. Going hand in hand with the multi-tasking ability of the new Sims, the emotion system should really make relationships more than just talking to someone incessantly until they agree to marry you. Unfortunately, it's not quite that way. The dream sure tried, but it didn't really make it to reality. Emotions seem to only come in one flavour, and that is the flavour of the sociopath. There is no nuance, no middling emotions, no vague sense of distrust. It's all either completely irrelevant, or the most mind-blowing height of emotion that it would send most sane people into immediate shock as their brain shuts down. It's certainly not the revolutionary new system that it is touted as, and that's a shame.
