10 Reasons Call Of Duty Must Be Boots On The Ground After Infinite Warfare
6. Fanbase Erosion
When you don't really give your fanbase what they want, obviously they will lose interest over time. It's not that hard a concept to grasp, yet this does seem to be the case for Activision.
The fact is that most of the fandom for CoD is just plain sick and tired of flying an 'exosuit sci-fi soldier' all the time. We can already see some of that discontent in the horrible preorder sales of Infinite Warfare, and the declining player base of Advanced Warfare and Black Ops 3.
If the fanbase erodes, then you can pretty much say that CoD's days are numbered. The series has kept gamers interested and engaged for over a decade now, but once people start to see that the CoD they loved isn't coming back, they won't come back.
Sure, older games still have people playing them. They probably always will until the day Activision pulls the plugs on the multiplayer. However, if newer games continue the trend, it's game over.
