10 Reasons Mafia 3 Will Be Better Than GTA 6

1. No Resources Wasted On Pointless Levels

GTA V docks shipping container
Rockstar

There's a mission in GTA V where you have to move shipping crates around, and another where you enter the expertly-modelled interior of a social media developer, just to trigger a death that later happens in a cutscene.

If you needed something more telling of Rockstar's abundance of cash, look no further than the level design. You can count the amount of mechanically unique - and enjoyable - missions on one hand, whereas the rest were mostly routed in things we'd already done, albeit with fancier interiors.

Whilst Mafia 3 will most likely fall back on these tropes and let its version of the nemesis system do the talking, at least it'll be a thoroughly focussed affair; one where you play as a character with a city-levelling grudge, embarking on a mission with a defined endpoint.

All assets and the budget itself will go into fulfilling this idea, and its an approach similar to Sega's outstanding Yakuza games. Here's to an open-world masterpiece that takes the ball from a staggering giant and runs with it.
