10 Reasons Mafia 3 Will Be Better Than GTA 6

4. There's A Major Story Focus

One of the biggest realisations you can have about the open-world genre over the years, is how its initial appeal - the whole 'let's explore and explode for hours'- has already waned, far past the point where pure wanton destruction would hold your attention for very long.

Yes, it's fun blowing stuff up and going on a random police chase, but not more fun than it used to be, and certainly not as we move forward, getting increasingly expansive versions of the exact same thing. To that end, an open-world game should be supplanted with a brilliant story; a perfect motivation for a character to indulge in the main missions, just as much as those around them. There should be a thrust to see the campaign through in a rewarding narrative sense, whilst also factoring into the genre being so freeform in the first place.

It's a delicate balance, but one that The Witcher 3 and Red Dead Redemption nailed. Mafia 3 looks to do the same. As Lincoln Clay, you're on a revenge mission, pure and simple. Cutscenes in the story trailer allude to explorations of his motivations and the toll it takes on his psyche, but it's a primary motivator that means you can wipe out all your targets at once -or do your bit exploring and restoring the city.

Ask yourself, what were the motivations of GTA V's cast? Crazy for crazy's sake, Mr. One-Last-Mission-Then-I'm-Done, and 'Sure Why Not', right?
