Nintendo fans were shocked when the beloved Virtual Console service was axed for the Nintendo Switch, and though the company did hint at an alternative being in the works, at present Nintendo Switch Online only offers NES games in its Netflix-like library.

Considering the limitations of the NES' line-up and the ludicrous number of classic titles from the SNES, N64, GameCube and Wii that would be a fantastic fit for the Switch, it's mind-boggling that Nintendo is dragging their feet on this and basically leaving money on the table.

Wouldn't it be way more appealing if the 20 games were drawn from all Nintendo platforms rather than just the NES? Instead it seems far more probable that Nintendo will eventually make more recent titles available at an extra cost, while maybe, just maybe, including the occasional N64 or GameCube game in the subscription library as a "treat."

Nintendo has a notorious problem with messaging, and the fact they're refusing to speak about the possibility of newer games joining the paid-for library means it's likely not happening in the way most would love to see.
